Beyoncé Leads 2023 Grammy’s w/ Nine Nominations Followed By Kendrick Lamar + Latto & GloRilla Receive First Ever Noms
The 2023 Grammy nominations are in and the list is filled with some of our favs!
Superstar songstress Beyoncé leads with the most nominations this year, with records from her hit album “Renaissance” taking nine spots on the list. Rap star Kendrick Lamar is runner-up, with eight nominations from his critically acclaimed album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.” There are also fresh nominees on this year’s list. Breakout rappers Latto and GloRilla are both in the running to receive their first-ever award from the highly coveted ceremony.

Many reports note that Beyoncé’s nominations this year mirror her 2017 runoff against international superstar Adele. If you recall, the R&B singer’s award-winning album “Lemonade” was famously defeated for Album Of The Year by Adele’s “25” in a shocking upset. Adele herself even issued an apology to her “idol,” later declaring she believes “Lemonade” was in fact the best album nominated that year.

The English singer is once again in the running for Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year with her latest release “30,” which features her hit record “Easy On Me.” In both categories, she’s facing stiff competition, which includes artists such as Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Lizzo, Doja Cat, and others. Should Beyoncé win at least four of her noms, she will become the most-winning Grammy artist in history. With this year’s list, she is also tied with her husband Jay-Z for most nominated artist of all time.

Rap stars Latto and GloRilla are both celebrating their first Grammy nominations ever. Latto received a nom for Best New Artist, while GloRilla stands in the Best Rap Performance category for her hit single “F.N.F.”
R&B singer Muni Long is also in the category for Best New Artist.

Earlier this year, Latto famously beefed with her once idol, rap icon Nicki Minaj about the coming award show. Minaj was upset that her rap song “Super Freaky Girl” was allegedly moved to the pop category, while Latto’s similar hit record “Energy” was allowed to remain in rap. Minaj accused the Grammys of attempting to diminish her chances of winning. To date, the self-proclaimed ‘Rap Queen’ has yet to win a Grammy award.

It seems the Academy heard the “Do We Have A Problem” rapper’s frustrations loud and clear. Minaj was altogether snubbed from nominations this year. Meanwhile, Latto took to social media following the exciting news, celebrating her win and cheering her fellow nominee, GloRilla, on.
