De La Soul Music Finally Coming To Streaming Services Following Battle w/ Ex-Record Label
After years of battling their former record label, pioneering rap group De La Soul’s catalog will finally be available on streaming services on March 3!
On Tuesday (Jan. 3), Reservoir Media revealed they acquired De La Soul’s catalog from Tommy Boy Records, now allowing the group’s first six albums – including their platinum-selling 1989 debut, “3 Feet High and Rising” – to be available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital platforms.
The March release coincides with the 34th anniversary of the trio’s first album, which is famous for the singles “Me, Myself & I” and “Buddy.”

Excited about the new release of their music, De La Soul said in a statement:
“We can’t believe this day is finally here, and we are excited to be able to share our music with fans, old and new. Golnar, Rell, Faith and the Reservoir team have been great partners in this entire process. We’re grateful that our relationship with them all has enabled this to happen.”
De La Soul includes Posdnuos (Kelvin Mercer), Trugoy (David Jude Jolicoeur), and Maseo (Vincent Lamont Mason Jr.). The trio formed in high school in Long Island, New York. They are best known for their eclectic sampling, quirky lyrics, and their contributions to the evolution of jazz, rap, and alternative hip-hop subgenres. The band’s debut album, “3 Feet High and Rising,” has been called “a hip-hop masterpiece” and was their biggest commercial success to date.

De La Soul’s other albums to become available on March 3 will include; “De La Soul Is Dead” (1991), “Buhloone Mindstate” (1993), “Stakes Is High” (1996), “Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump” (2000) and “AOI: Bionix” (2001).
