A source for GoFundMe has warned people looking to give a financial gift to Damar Hamlin during this scary time that there is only one verified fundraiser, “The Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive,” on the platform that’s officially tied to the Buffalo Bills player. A spokesperson for the for-profit crowdfunding platform added that the company’s top priority is to keep people safe and “protect the generosity of our donors.” Reportedly, the fake accounts are being pulled down in real-time and GoFundMe plans to continue monitoring the situation closely.
So far, the verified fundraiser connected to Damar Hamlin has surpassed $6M since his tragic incident occurred.

As previously reported, the 24-year-old athlete fell on his back moments after getting up from an open field tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. 10 seconds after his fall, Hamlin was administered CPR on the field and was taken out of the stadium to an ambulance. The NFL ultimately suspended the game. It has since been reported that the professional athlete was resuscitated once at Paycor Stadium after going into cardiac arrest. He’s currently in the ICU in critical condition, according to reports.
