Jay-Z Makes History As First Black Male Artist w/ 10 Multi-Platinum Albums
Jay-Z‘s success continues to soar!
The hip-hop mogul has become the first Black male recording artist to have at least 10 solo studio albums reach double-platinum certification.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently updated its list of certifications, with Hov’s 2009 album Blueprint 3 becoming his tenth solo project to reach two million album sales. In addition, his 2003 album, The Black Album, reached the quadruple platinum mark.

Jay-Z has a total of 12 multi-platinum albums, including 10 solo projects and two collaborative LPs: Watch the Throne with Kanye West and the Collision Course EP with Linkin Park.
The Empire State Of Mind rapper is the second Black artist to achieve the feat, following right behind Mariah Carey, who currently has 11 solo albums with over two million copies sold each.
Last month, Jay-Z and Kanye West earned themselves diamond plaques as their Watch The Throne anthem N*ggas In Paris is now certified 10x platinum.
The Roc Nation boss also leads the pack when it comes to charting, having topped the Billboard 200 14 times throughout his career. Right behind him is Drake, who currently holds the record of hitting Billboard 200 12 times.
In February, Jay-Z was named Billboard‘s No. 1 rapper of all time thanks to his commercial success, critical acclaim, cultural impact and entrepreneurial success.
In addition to Hov’s 24 Grammy Awards, 14 No. 1 albums and 140 million record sales, Billboard credited his,
“longevity, the breadth of his accomplishments, and what he’s meant to Hip Hop from a musical, cultural and financial standpoint for the last three decades,”
as the reason for him gaining the number one spot!
Congratulations to Jay-Z!
