In a recent interview with Complex, JT addressed the separation, saying,

“I think it made sense for both of us and it was no hard feelings.”

JT elaborated,

“I’m like Tina Turner, I’m still a City Girl. I need my name. That’s the biggest thing about me. I can’t ever get away from being a City Girl. It just made so much sense for the both of us in the direction that we were going and things that we were focusing on. There wasn’t no hard feeling about it. It was just like, we saw it coming.”

The revelation comes in the wake of Yung Miami’s recent appearance on the latest episode of her Revolt TV series Caresha Please.

Yung Miami (Caresha Please, REVOLT)

During the season two opener, which garnered over 1 million views in less than 24 hours, Yung Miami addressed their breakup and her current relationship with JT.

She shared,

“S*** ain’t all good and it’s not all bad. We don’t talk every day, but it’s no beef on my end. I still look at her as family.”

Yung Miami explained,

“We outgrew each other. She was in LA, I was in Miami. She was working on her s*** [JT’s solo music], I didn’t know. I just felt like every time we tried to get together, it just didn’t hit.”

Despite parting ways professionally, both Yung Miami and JT have thrived in their solo careers. JT’s solo debut, City Cinderella, has been particularly impressive, selling 27,000 copies and debuting at No. 27 on the Billboard 200. This marks a notable improvement over the City Girls’ last album, which sold about 10,000 copies and debuted at No. 117 on the same chart.
