Luther Vandross’ Team Criticized For Sending Condolences To Mariah Carey Via The Late Singer’s Social Media Accounts
Social media users apparently aren’t too comfortable with celebs posting messages from beyond the grave.
Commenters have been sharing their cringed opinions about someone sending condolences to Mariah Carey from late singer Luther Vandross’ social media accounts, despite the entertainer passing away nearly two decades ago.
Internet users have been chiming in since the message was uploaded to Luther Vandross‘ X (formerly Twitter) account yesterday (August 27th). Along with an image of the “Never Too Much” singer and his fellow R&B artist and collaborator Mariah Carey, someone with access to the page wrote:
“Sending love to @MariahCarey today and always – LV”
As you may know, Mariah Carey recently revealed that she tragically lost her mother and her sister on the same day. While details about the women’s deaths have been limited, reports noted that the Grammy Award winner was with her mother during her last moments. However, per the reports, she was sadly estranged from her sister, allegedly due to her drug addiction.
Though the gesture from Luther Vandross’ account may have been rooted in good intent, it seems the action rubbed social media users the wrong way seeing as the musician has long been deceased. In case you’re unfamiliar, the 8x Grammy Award winner passed away back in 2005 at the age of 54 due to complications from a stroke.
Reacting to the post, many commented that the situation is “weird,” with some questioning if mental health played a role in the decision to upload. One user wrote:
“This gotta be a mental illness”
While another added:
“its creepy to sign this LV…just weird and unnecessary”
Others shared similar opinions.
