Top Justice Department Officials Resign After Order To Drop NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ Corruption Case
Top Justice Department officials resigned after being ordered to drop the criminal case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Danielle Sassoon, acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, stepped down following a directive from Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove to dismiss the corruption charges.
Bove’s memo, citing Eric Adams’ limited role in enforcing Trump administration immigration policies, ordered the case dropped without prejudice. Sassoon objected, alleging improper quid pro quo attempts by Eric Adams’ legal team.
Bove rejected her resignation letter, accusing her of misconduct. This internal conflict led to resignations from other Justice Department officials.
