Ts Madison Opens Re-Entry Home For Formerly Incarcerated Black Trans Women
Ts Madison, a reality TV personality and LGBTQ advocate, opened the Ts Madison Starter House in Atlanta this week, a re-entry home for formerly incarcerated Black transgender women.
Located in Atlanta, the house provides stable housing for up to five residents, offering a 90-day program that includes job assistance, gender-affirming health care, GED support, and therapy.Ts Madison emphasized the importance of not just offering shelter but also access to opportunities that have often been denied to these women.
“This is about providing not only shelter but access to opportunities they’ve been denied,” Madison said. The house, which launched on Transgender Day of Visibility, aims to help Black trans women successfully reintegrate into society, teaching them to thrive through their gifts, not rely on their bodies.
Dominique Morgan, executive director of Black and Pink, praised the initiative, saying, “This project isn’t just about housing—it’s about creating a space where Black trans women can thrive, not just survive.”
Madison partnered with NAESM, Inc., to provide health care services, with activist Monroe Alise adding, “We’re ensuring Black trans women have the tools to move beyond survival and into stability.”
Madison plans to document the residents’ journey in a forthcoming docuseries, focusing on transformation and triumphs, not exploitation.
Should more entertainers follow suit?
