Diddy’s Request To Delay Trial Denied, Jury Selection Set For May 5
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attempt to delay his upcoming s*x trafficking and racketeering trial was denied by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who said it was “unclear why there isn’t sufficient time to prepare.”
Jury selection remains set for May 5. Diddy’s lawyers had requested a two-month delay, citing slow evidence disclosure following a new indictment. They’ve also sought to exclude a 2016 surveillance video, aired by CNN, that appears to show Diddy assaulting ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura.
The footage shows him “clad in just a towel and socks,” chasing, striking, and kicking Cassie. Diddy’s legal team accused CNN of having “altered, manipulated” and “sped up” the footage and claimed the original was destroyed.
CNN denied that, stating the source retained it. Cassie sued Diddy in 2023; the case settled in a day. On April 17, defense attorney Brian Steel was added to Diddy’s team.
Diddy remains jailed, facing life in prison if convicted.
