NFL Rookie Derrick Harmon Was By His Mother’s Side When She Passed Just Hours After Draft
Newly drafted NFL player Derrick Harmon recently opened up about his emotional draft night experience.
In a heart-wrenching video posted to his YouTube, the 21-year-old shared behind-the-scenes footage of being picked 21st overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
While friends and family were celebrating the milestone at his draft party, Harmon quickly slipped away and can be heard towards the end of the video breaking down in tears, saying through sobs, “You’re supposed to be here,” referring to his mother, Tiffany Saine.

As we previously reported, Derrick’s mother had been on life support since his freshman year after suffering a stroke. She also endured multiple brain surgeries over the years.
While she couldn’t witness her son’s big moment in real time, the video reveals that Derrick left his party and went straight to her bedside. Per the video, she passed later that evening, “with her son by her side.”
Our hearts are with Derrick Harmon and his family during this deeply difficult time.
