Robert De Niro Supports Daughter Airyn After She Comes Out As Transgender: ‘I Don’t Know What The Big Deal Is’
Robert De Niro is proudly supporting his daughter after she came out as transgender.
Speaking to TMZ, the legendary actor said, “I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter.” He added, “I don’t know what the big deal is…I love all my children.”
Airyn, who was born Aaron and has a twin brother named Julian, publicly came out this week in an interview with Them,” stating she’s “stepping into this new identity.” Their mother is actress Toukie Smith.
Airyn also revealed her longtime struggle with body dysmorphia, sharing, “It was never just, ‘You’re just right, just the way you are.’” She recalled being told she was “too big, not skinny enough, not Black enough, not white enough, too feminine, not masculine enough.”
She began hormone therapy in November and says she’s finally embracing who she truly is.
Robert De Niro has seven children in total.
