Kool & The Gang Member Michael ‘Chicago Mike’ Sumler Dies At 71 In Georgia Car Crash
Michael Sumler, beloved longtime member of Kool & the Gang, tragically died in a late-night car crash in Cobb County, Georgia.
The 71-year-old, affectionately known as “Chicago Mike,” was behind the wheel when his vehicle collided with another just before midnight Saturday. He died at the scene.
“He was the hype guy…getting the audience going,” said Greg Williams. Adrian Meeks called it “a devastating blow.”
Sumler mentored younger artists and was known for his kindness. “He’ll be dearly missed,” Meeks added.
