Kirk Franklin Denies Wearing ‘Hoochie Daddy Shorts’ In Jamaica, Calls Public’s Fixation On His Outfit ‘Fatiguing’

Kirk Franklin is addressing the viral video that had church folks clutching their pearls.

While speaking with Angie Martinez on her IRL podcast, the gospel star reflected on the clip of him performing in Jamaica last year wearing a tank top and denim shorts… an outfit that some deemed inappropriate.

“I had to go to Jamaica last year… and I had some shorts on and a tank top, and I got ridiculed,” he said.

Martinez jokingly referred to the shorts as “hoochie daddy shorts,” but Franklin disagreed.

“It was just a regular look that I had on… I had some Travis Scotts on and I was doing a concert.”

Franklin added that the backlash became “fatiguing” and criticized social media culture:

“Social media gives everybody that microphone. It’s the necessary capital E word that you know we all are trying to maneuver with because it does a lot of good.”

He continued:

“It’s not social media that’s evil, it’s the individuals [whose] hearts are not pure and healed and whole and surrendered that use that as a tool of evil.”
