Florida Father Arrested For Leaving Toddler To Die In Hot Car While He Got A Haircut & Drake At Bar

A Florida father is behind bars after allegedly leaving his 18-month-old son to die in a sweltering vehicle while he got a haircut and drank at a bar.

Police say 33-year-old Scott Allen Gardner left toddler Sebastian inside his truck for over three hours on June 6, while he visited Hanky Panky’s Lounge in Ormond Beach. Temperatures outside hit 92 degrees, and the child’s body temperature soared to 111 degrees before he died.

Gardner allegedly gave investigators false accounts of what happened. “The same OBPD officer who tried to revive Sebastian placed Gardner in handcuffs today,” the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said. Bodycam footage captured the moment he was arrested at his mother’s home.

Gardner was booked into Volusia County Jail and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect causing great bodily harm. As he was taken away, two people shouted “I love you,” to which Gardner replied, “I love you guys.”
