Gov. Greg Abbott Signs Bill Requiring Ten Commandments Be Displayed In Texas Classrooms
Texas is making headlines with a new law.
Over the weekend, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that he signed a bill that mandates all public school classrooms post a 16-by-20-inch framed copy of a specific English version of the Ten Commandments. The bill passed easily in the Republican-led state House and Senate, but is expected to face legal challenges from critics who argue it violates the separation of church and state.

Abbott also signed a separate bill allowing schools to set aside time during the day for voluntary prayer or religious reading.
