Deputy’s Widow Sues Rodney Hinton Jr.’s Family For Raising $100K After Alleged K*lling

Deputy’s Widow Sues Rodney Hinton Jr.’s Family For Raising $100K After Alleged K*lling
The family of Rodney Hinton Jr. is facing pushback after raising over $100,000 online following the alleged murder of a Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy.
Lorena Henderson, the widow of Deputy Larry Henderson, has filed a lawsuit claiming Hinton’s relatives used her husband’s death to crowdfund money. Her attorney called it “a violation of Ohio’s public policy against profiting from criminal conduct but an affront to the principles of justice and decency.”
Prosecutors say Rodney Hinton Jr. intentionally ran over Deputy Henderson on May 2, just one day after Hinton’s 18-year-old son was fatally shot by another officer.

Lorena is suing for damages on behalf of her husband’s estate, claiming the crowdfunding caused her and their children “extreme emotional distress.”
Fundraisers popped up on sites like GiveSendGo, which defended hosting them by saying they “do not determine guilt or innocence.” GoFundMe, however, removed all campaigns related to Hinton, citing its policy against fundraising for those charged with violent crimes.
Hinton has pleaded not guilty after being charged with aggravated murder.
