In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Sway Calloway, Cardi touched on how her #JanetJackson sample came to fruition. Cardi’s song Principal pulls from Janet’s 1987 classic Pleasure Principle. The track, considered a featured performance, reportedly marks the first time the legend has officially contributed vocals to another woman’s album.
In order to secure the greenlight from Janet, Cardi jokingly revealed that there were some strict guidelines she had to agree to first. However, she was okay with the demands, noting Janet can get “whatever the f*ck” she wants.
