“Dance Moms” Star Nia Sioux Explains Why She Skipped 2024 Reunion Special, Says Anything Said About Her Experience As The Show’s Only Black Girl Would Have Been Removed
Nia Sioux has no regrets about missing the #DanceMoms reunion special.
In May 2024, the majority of the cast of the #Lifetime reality series came together to reflect and hash things out. #NiaSioux, who was the only Black girl from the original cast, was not in attendance. Speaking with Kamie Crawford, Nia explained why she made the decision not to attend, saying, “I know it brought a lot of the other girls peace and closure, but I knew for me, it wasn’t going to do the same.”
Nia expressed that to receive any closure, she would have to bring up certain topics and talk about her experience “being the only Black girl on the show.” However, she felt production wouldn’t have given her the chance to do so or would have edited out whatever she said before the special aired. “That’s not good enough for me,” Nia continued, “I don’t want to just go and sit there and not be able to speak my full truth. I don’t want to water down my story.”
Do you think Nia made the right choice by skipping the reunion to protect her peace, or should she have attended anyway?
