Snapchat To Start Charging Users For Memories Storage
Another day, another newly added subscription fee.
#Snapchat announced it will begin charging users who store more than 5 GB of photos and videos in its Memories feature, a change to its formerly free archival system. The company emphasized that for “the vast majority of Snapchatters, who have less than 5 GB of Memories, nothing will change,” while offering paid plans for heavier users.
In the announcement, Snap acknowledged that shifting from free to paid storage “is never easy,” but said the move is intended to sustain investment in the Memories feature. A company spokesperson reportedly told TechCrunch that Snapchat’s initial 100GB storage plan will cost $1.99 per month, while 250GB comes with the $3.99 Snapchat+ subscription.
