News Anchor, 29, Passes Away After Jumping From 3rd Floor of Apartment Building While Trying To Escape Armed Robbers
Tragic news!
Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, a 29-year-old #Nigerian news anchor and producer for Arise News, passed away after jumping from the third floor of her apartment building while attempting to escape armed robbers in the early hours of Sept. 29. According to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, she was found unconscious and succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the hospital. The local Police Commissioner described the matter as “a cruel and senseless act that has no place in a sane society” and has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
#AriseNews station management expressed deep sorrow, calling Maduagwu a “beloved colleague” who was “a vibrant voice” and “engaged and connected with our viewers.” They added that beyond the airwaves, she was a lawyer who was a professional and supportive colleague and a friend to many.
#TJB sends condolences to the loved ones of #Sommie during this challenging time.
