Lizzo Speaks Out After Fat-Shaming Allegations Are Dropped From Former Dancers’ Lawsuit: ‘It Never Happened’
Lizzo is maintaining her innocence.
The pop star scored a legal win last week after three of her former backup dancers dropped the fat-shaming claims included in their broader s3xual harassment lawsuit. The dancers — Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Crystal Williams — had alleged that #Lizzo made negative comments about their weight during The Special Tour in 2023, which they claimed played a hand in them being let go. However, they opted not to appeal after a judge dismissed those claims. Lizzo’s attorneys say 18 witnesses submitted sworn statements disputing the accusations. The remainder of the lawsuit is still moving forward.
Addressing the dropped fat-shaming allegations publicly, Lizzo shared a video stating that what the dancers claimed “never happened.” She went on to explain that the women were not fired for gaining weight, but for “taking a private recording” of her and sharing it with former employees. Lizzo added that the allegation she fired the dancers over their weight has “haunted” her since the lawsuit was first filed.
