Cops Search Savannah Guthrie’s Sister’s Home as Missing Mom Case Intensifies
The desperate search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, took a chilling turn this weekend when investigators executed a search at the home of her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and son-in-law. Authorities spent over two hours at the residence in Tucson, removing what appeared to be evidence as the case entered its ninth day with no suspects identified.
Nancy was reported missing on Feb. 1 after being dropped off at her own home following dinner at Annie and her husband’s house, and sheriff’s investigators quickly ruled out a routine disappearance, treating her residence as a crime scene due to “very concerning” conditions.
Video from the search showed agents hauling bags — including a white suitcase and a brown bag — out of Annie’s home, which sits only about four miles from Nancy’s last known location. At the same time, authorities were also seen probing Nancy’s property with poles near a manhole and towing her SUV, signaling the intense, expanding nature of the investigation.
Law enforcement has confirmed that blood found on the porch of Nancy’s home matched her DNA, and while officials say they believe she was abducted against her will, no suspects or persons of interest have been publicly named.
The FBI has joined local investigators, and although the authenticity of several ransom notes — including one addressed to media outlets — is still being examined, the family has pleaded for their loved one’s safe return. Savannah and her siblings released a video message saying they received a message from whoever may be holding her and indicating a willingness to pay for her return.
As detectives expand their search and sift through evidence pulled from multiple locations, the case remains one of the most intense and closely watched missing-person investigations in recent memory — with the famous correspondent and her family continuing to publicly beg for any information that might lead to Nancy’s safe recovery.
