Rihanna Shooting Suspect Allegedly Sent Bizarre Message to Estranged Husband Weeks Before Attack: “I Need You to Renounce Rihanna & Confess That I’m Better Than Her’

The woman accused of opening fire outside Rihanna’s Beverly Hills mansion allegedly sent a strange message about the superstar weeks before the shooting, according to newly revealed court documents.

Authorities say Ivanna Ortiz, the suspect charged in the shooting case, sent an email to her estranged husband Jed Valdez Sangalang on January 26, demanding he distance himself from the singer.

According to the documents, Ortiz allegedly wrote: “I need you to renounce Rihanna and confess that I’m better than her.” She continued, “Let it be done. You gotta let me know so that door can be closed.”

Sangalang says he didn’t initially realize the seriousness of the message — but everything changed when he began receiving calls and emails from reporters about the shooting at Rihanna’s home.

The estranged husband claims he tried to shield their minor child from the news, but the child eventually learned about the incident from another student at school.

Sangalang is now asking the court for full custody and sole decision-making authority over their child as Ortiz faces attempted murder and assault charges tied to the shooting at Rihanna’s home.
