Spike Lee Admits He Wanted A Little More Love’ For “Sinners” At The Oscars
Did #Sinners deserve more love at the Oscars??
The critically acclaimed supernatural horror thriller, produced, written, and directed by #RyanCoogler, broke records with 16 nominations, the most ever in Academy Awards history. On Sunday night, the film ultimately walked away with four wins: Best Actor in a Leading Role (Michael B. Jordan), Best Original Screenplay (Ryan Coogler), Best Cinematography (Autumn Durald Arkapaw), and Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson).
Speaking with Variety on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party, #SpikeLee admitted he’s among those who “wanted a little more love for Sinners.” He also revealed that, ahead of the ceremony, he told the cast and crew that, regardless of the outcome, “they won already” and that the “film has gone down in cinematic history.”
Spike added that he wished #DelroyLindo had taken home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, calling it his “one big disappointment” of the night. Lindo, who plays Delta Slim in Sinners, lost to Sean Penn for his role as Col. Steven J. Lockjaw in One Battle After Another.
#TJBCrew, do you agree with Spike Lee? Or happy with how everything played out?
