La Toya Jackson Admits She Wishes Everybody Was In “Michael,” But Sister Janet Jackson ‘Kindly Declined’ To Be Portrayed In Biopic
Sad news for those hoping to see #JanetJackson portrayed in the newest Michael Jackson biopic.
On Monday (Apr. 20), during the film’s Los Angeles premiere, #LaToyaJackson explained that Janet was actually invited to be involved in the project but decided not to take part. As she put it, “I wish everybody was in the movie,” adding, “[Janet] was asked and she kindly declined — so you have to respect her wishes.” The biopic, which follows the early career of the late King of Pop, still features several members of the Jackson family. Janet has yet to publicly address her decision not to be involved in the project, and she was also noticeably absent from the premiere.
The All For You singer isn’t the only Jackson who appears to have concerns about the film. As previously reported, Michael’s daughter, #ParisJackson, called out production for allegedly overlooking her feedback, saying, “The narrative is being controlled and there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. Go enjoy it. Do whatever. Leave me out of it.” While Paris later wished her cousin #JaafarJackson, who portrays her father in the movie, success, she also did not attend the premiere.
#Michael hits theaters Friday, April 24.
