SZA Celebrates New Jersey Hall Of Fame Induction, Jokes Meeting Danny DeVito Was ‘More Important’

SZA has officially earned a spot in the New Jersey Hall of Fame — but meeting Danny DeVito may have been the highlight of the night for her.

The Grammy-winning singer was inducted as part of the Hall of Fame’s 2026 class in the Performing Arts & Entertainment category Thursday (Sept. 24). The ceremony was held at the Dream Live Performing Arts Center at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and hosted by DeVito, himself a 2010 inductee.

SZA celebrated the honor with a photo dump showing off her medal, posing around New York and snapping a selfie with DeVito. Keeping things playful, she captioned the post, “Got inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame MORE IMPORTANTLY I MET DANNY DEVITO .”

Although SZA was born in St. Louis, she was raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, and attended Columbia High School. The New Jersey Hall of Fame highlighted her seven Grammy wins, more than 70 billion career streams and the record-breaking success of albums Ctrl and SOS among the accomplishments behind her induction.

SZA joined a 2026 class that also includes former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor and members of The Rascals, among other honorees.
