Grits & Eggs Podcast Host Deante’ Kyle Recalls First Viral Moment Discussing Capitalism & Why He Rejects Hustle Culture
Deante’ Kyle is opening up about the moment that first made him go viral and why he refuses to buy into society’s obsession with hustle culture.
During an exclusive interview with theJasmineBrand founder Jasmine Brand, the Grits & Eggs Podcast host reflected on how his commentary about capitalism, the housing market and the financial struggles facing millennials initially caught the internet’s attention.
“But the first time I went like, like super viral, I was talking about capitalism. I was talking about the housing market. I was talking about the privatization of single-family homes,” Kyle explained. He continued, “As a millennial, no matter how long it took me to play by the rules, by the time I played by the rules and did everything y’all said would bring me success, y’all moved the goalposts.”
Kyle said his message resonated with people who were tired of being told that financial success requires constantly working, finding additional streams of income or becoming entrepreneurs. He made it clear that not everyone dreams of running a business or spending their life chasing money.
“I don’t wake up every day thinking about money. I don’t want to wake up and find a side hustle,” he said. “I don’t want to be a CEO. I don’t want to do all that sh*t, bro. That ain’t how I’m hardwired.”
The podcaster also questioned why previous generations could seemingly enjoy a comfortable lifestyle with traditional jobs, while today’s workers are increasingly encouraged to work beyond their regular hours just to afford basic necessities.
“The boomers that y’all talk about did their job and went home and they had a house, two cars, could afford to put their kids in college, could afford to go on vacation twice a year,” he said.
For Kyle, the goal isn’t necessarily wealth or entrepreneurship. Instead, he believes people should be able to work a standard 40-hour week, pay their bills, provide for their families and enjoy life without constantly worrying about money.
