Rodney King’s Friends Say Fiance’s Lying About What Happened

Rodney King & Fiance
On Father’s Day, we learned the tragic news that 47-year-old Rodney King had died at his California home. According to reports, he was found by his fiance Cynthia Kelley, at the bottom of a swimming pool. So how exactly did he drown? The details are still sketchy at this time, but Cynthia says that Rodney had been in their home all day drinking and had smoked weed at some point during the day. She went to bed (after midnight) and next recalled seeing Rodney around 5:00 AM, when she was awoken by him screaming in the backyard. Sources say that Cynthia found King naked, banging on the glass. Reportedly, she called out to him,
“What’s wrong, Rodney?”
She went to grab the phone, heard a big splash then went into the backyard and discovered him in the bottom of the pool and called police. Law enforcement responded to a call at 5:25 AM PT. They physically removed King from the pool and attempted CPR. Reportedly, he was pronounced dead at 6:11 AM.

Meanwhile, two of Rodney’s close friends aren’t buying the story that Cynthia has provided. Sources close to Rodney tell TMZ they heard Kelley tell the story several times to friends, but the version of what she said happened changed each time. Long story short, they think that Cynthia is lying about what happened. The two friends spoke with her in the hours following King’s death and have gone to police and spoke to a detective. Rumor has it that the detective took down their story and their information. Meanwhile, there have been no signs of foul play, but they are conducting a drowning investigation and will perform an autopsy. Obviously this is pure speculation, but do you think Cynthia’s version of what happened is a bit suspicious?
