Serena Williams Admits Fault With Umpire Outburst, “My emotions got the best of me.”

On Sunday, Serena Williams displayed a controversial outburst, to the umpire, during her game at the Women’s U.S.Open final. And on Tuesday, she was fined $2,000 for the outburst. Thursday, she explained on twitter:
“My emotions did get the best of me this weekend when I disagreed with the umpire. It has been a long road to get back to the US open this year, and I am thankful to have such a great two weeks in New York.” It truly has been a long road for Serena as a similar outburst in 2009 put her on Grand Slam probation. If Sunday’s situation was considered ‘major,’ it could have warranted an entire suspension from the 2012 US Open. Thankfully we can all look forward to more Serena on the court and hopefully less outbursts.
