Soul Train Awards Pay Tribute To Heavy D

Last week, 44-year-old Heavy D, passed in Beverly Hills, and Friday he will be laid to rest. In an effort to remember his legacy, he will be honored at the 2011 Soul Train Awards, broadcast by Centric and BET. At the funeral, Diddy will speak as a part of the memorial service. Diddy explained,
“He was a wonderful human being, who inspired and paved the way for a Hip Hop generation. We were like brothers — I will miss him more than words can express.”
Hev‘s relatives have also released a statement:
“Though Hev will most notably be remembered for his work both behind-the-scenes and in the forefront, he will always be remembered by us as a generous soul who remained humble and unselfish till his final days.”
The Soul Train Awards will be taped on Thursday. Big Daddy Kane, Kurtis Blow and Doug E. Fresh are among the rappers that will pay tribute to the legendary Heavy D.
