Mashonda’s Change of Heart, Pen’s Open Letter to Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys

Back in September of 2009 after having learned (and being fed-up) that Alicia Keys allegedly had an affair with her then husband, Swizz Beatz, Mashonda penned a very public letter to Alicia Keys, along with some direct (and public) Tweets.

She vented: “You have no idea how much pain I was caused because of this affair. It’s baffling to me that you don’t understand what I might have gone through with this situation. I don’t consider myself a victim anymore, I’ve learned a lot from this.” Alicia Keys never responded publicly to Mashonda’s accusations.

Two years later, Mashonda has moved on, now writes for Vibe and stars on the new reality show, Love & Hip-Hop. And as they say, time heals all wombs….She recently penned another letter to Swizzy and Alicia. She wrote: “It took some time, but I now realize that even my former husband and his new wife, are my partners in this wonderful journey. When I look into Kasseem’s eyes, I see the joy in his heart by having such a wonderful, blended family that loves him so much. As this blended family of ours continues to grow, I look forward to the months and years ahead raising our children together as one.” That is incredibly brave and dope of her. Sweet!
