Jeezy Says Rappers Have ‘Failed’ Young Artists: When They Was Telling Us They Was Hurt, We Wasn’t Paying Attention’
Jeezy is calling out hip-hop veterans, including himself, for failing to recognize the pain young rappers have been expressing through their music.
During a conversation with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes on the “All The Smoke” podcast, the Atlanta rapper reflected on the violence surrounding younger artists and the lack of guidance from established figures in the industry.
“When they was telling us they was hurt, we wasn’t paying attention,” Jeezy said, arguing that older generations have “failed” emerging artists.
He also expressed concern that some young rappers believe they must k*ll someone to feel significant or earn respect.
Rather than viewing their behavior solely as an attempt to build a street reputation, Jeezy suggested that many are dealing with emotional pain that has gone unaddressed.
Do you agree with Jeezy on this one?
