Updated: Wyclef Jean Shot in Haiti, Management Confirms Shooting + Photo of Wyclef in Hospital

Early Sunday morning, news hit that 41-year-old musician, singer and social activist, Wyclef Jean, was shot Saturday. While in Haiti and just before election day, a gunman opened fire. According to reports, the car was driving through Delmas #65 in Port-au-Prince. Jean’s version of the story is that he had just left his car, heard gunfire, and then saw blood on his shirt and shoes. He doesn’t know who fired the shots. He was shot in the hand and was in stable condition. The photo above is of Jean recovering post-shooting. Around 2. a.m. EST, Jean’s management team released an informal statement via Twitter: “We have spoken to Wyclef, he is ok. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers – Management.” UPDATE: At 2:45 a.m., a spokesman for Jean said that he had been released from the hospital at after being treated for a gunshot wound to his hand. “He’s fine now. It happened late yesterday night and he was released after a couple hours.” Photo Source
