June Ambrose Talks Raising Kids Around Celebrity Clients & How She Got Started

June Ambrose recently graced the cover of “Avenue Insider Magazine” for the October 2011 issue. Here’s one fact that some of us were unaware of: Ambrose used to be an Investment Banker. Yup. Before she styled and became close friends with Jay-Z and Kanye West, she was at what she considered a “dead end job.” She also said that she never regretted becoming an investment banker, after obtaining a substantial amount of money doing that kind of business, she moved on from the business world to the styling world. I must say that it’s kind of inspirational, that you can fulfill your dreams as long as you work hard at it. Being that Ambrose is set to have a new VH1 reality show and she styles the hottest artists, she works darn hard for it. Peep Ambrose’s amazing story on juggling family, fashion and new projects. On Her Son Chance and Daughter Summer:
“They understand why people respond to celebrities in the way that they do. They’re learning that it’s a privilege to be a part of an elite group of people. And when your mother counts superstars like Jay-Z and Beyonce as friends, one is bound to experience an atypical childhood. Two weeks ago we were hanging out with one of the Beatles. They were talking to Paul McCartney and Jay-Z backstage at a Beyonce concert and Paul was showing Chance how to play the harmonica.”
On Designing and Styling:
“I always wanted to walk into a room and be the focus of it, that was just my shtick. I was going to use myself to get my foot in the door and make things happen. I wanted to take urban style and make it something cinematic and forward… A kind of high market approach. I bought in all these elements and designed all these pieces for this scene when nobody wanted to give Mariah Carey gowns.”
