Beyonce Wins A Writing Award For Her “Eat, Play, Love” Lifestyle Article

For Essence Magazine‘s July 2011 issue, Beyonce wrote a cover story chronicling all the excitement she experienced during the 9 month hiatus she took from the music business in 2010. The story, which she titled, “Eat, Play, Love,” let readers know about everything from how fun it was to travel with Jay, to what it was like to be a Harajuku girl and party in Tokyo nightclubs. Yes, basically she made all of us jealous of her fabulous life… or gave us some ideas for our bucket list. Anyway, fast forward to today, and the New York Association of Black Journalists has announced that they will be gifting King Bey with a writing award, for that article, on May 15th. No further details about the honor or the ceremony have been announced, but we are definitely proud of Bey :) Peep an excerpt below.
“I had talked about taking a vacation before, but always ended up in the studio after two weeks, so no one believed me. This time, though, I was serious. I was going to give myself a year to do the things I never get to do. Simple things like play with my nephew, pick him up from school, visit museums, go to concerts, see some Broadway shows, learn to cook a meal and spend time with my husband… Yes, I needed some relaxation, but I wanted inspiration too, from regular everyday things. They did not have to be over-the-top productions. I was looking for tiny moments that would speak to my heart and make me smile…” –Beyonce, ESSENCE

Nice.
I love her… Great Job Bey you deserve it.
Yet another accomplishment to add to her success. Congrats Queen Bey.
I read that alot of journalist were upset that the award was given to an entertainer and not a professional journalist… I understand their frustration. But I remember reading that article last year and thinking “Wow. She did a great job.” You don’t usually see the subject write their own article. I loved it and I’m not the type to read news papers. Way to go King B!
