[Video] Dr Cornel West Says Jay-Z Doesn’t Own As Much As He Claims In Brooklyn Nets
Dr. Cornel West is calling his good friend, Jay-Z, out, asking that he be more truthful about his NBA business venture. Specifically, the very vocal author/activist, wants Jay to be honest about his Brooklyn Nets ownership. During a recent speech, West alleges that Jay owns much less than the public knows–one fifteenth of one percent. In fact, he says the person that owns the majority (80%) of the team is a 'Russian Gangster'. He explains:
"Jay-Z came from the Marcy projects, but look at him now. He owns the whole – no, he owns one-fifteenth of one percent of the whole stadium. Let's get it right, now. They got a Russian gangster who owns 80 percent. Now I love Jay-Z, I've spent much time with the brother. He's a lyrical genius. But we've got to tell him the truth."
So what's motivated West to speak on this publicly? He says that Jay should be accountable and honest–and his words (West's) are out of love. Peep the clip.

Wow that's deep. I did the math so that's is only 6.7% of 1%. In word form that is six and seven tenths of 1 percent of ownership. That is close to nothing. He better keep making music, babies and restaurants. He had everybody fooled even Kanye West. Remember he said that he should have told Jay to drop Humphries from the team. Turns out that he didn't have the authority to do so if he wanted to.

Hmm, but Jay never claimed to own the entire NY Nets? Clearly Mr. West should have read a few interviews, or better yet went to one of Jay’s concerts like I did a few wks ago. Always “our” ppl trying to knock us down. Like he said at his concerts…”the fact that he is apart of it at all is fu#$$n amazing”.

Did Jay Z actually say that he owned the entire franchise? I'm not sure that he did… Furthermore, he owns more than I can at the moment so it is still an awesome accomplishment.
