SWV’s New Reality Show Brings Tears, Vintage Conflict & Breast Cancer
‘We’re starting this comeback after all these years, but we still haven’t fixed the problems that broke us up in the first place.’ -Coko
The official teaser has been released for ‘SWV‘, a We TV reality show about the successful 1990’s R&B group. For the first time, Cheryl “Coko” Clemons, Tamara “Taj” Johnson-George and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons give fans a glimpse into their lives years later after entering the music scene in 1990.
The clip highlights the highs and lows that the trio is facing, trying to reemerge on the music scene since their 1998 break-up. Lelee’s quote:
If we can’t get this together now, we’ll never make it….We might as well close the chapter of SWV
hints that some serious issues went on behind-the-scenes during their careers. Viewers can also expect a potential health scare with Coco (the word ‘breast cancer’ is mentioned), management issues (someone may or may not be getting a pink slip) and solo aspirations (via Coco we assume). Check out the clip.
This summer, we chatted with them exclusively during Essence Festival and the group insisted that fans would be seeing more of their personal life (make-ups, break-ups and all things in between), but don’t expect a bunch of drama and arguing, similar to what is seen on shows like R&B Divas (In Coko’s words, ‘We’re too old for that….’).
What are your thoughts on what we’ve seen thus far?
SWV will premiere Thursday, January 23 at 10|9c on We TV.
