[INTERVIEW] Tahj Mowry Showcases New Music, Talks Eclectic “Future Funk” & Being Respected as a Musician
Tahj Mowry: It’s very different. Its an eclectic sound, and what I wanted to do was sorta blend genres together. I’m a huge alternative guy, I love Soul music, I love Rock & Roll, I love R&B, I mean I [even] like EDM, so basically my sound is what I call “Future Funk,” so its very funky- Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Sam Sparro-ish, but its futuristic. Its got electronic undertones, and alternative driven beats, but also a lot of live instrumentation mixed with pads or beats.
theJasmineBRAND.com: What is one of your biggest fears?
Tahj Mowry: I don’t like to speak on negativity, so I personally don’t have any fears, I just really want people to respect me as a musician, as a songwriter, as someone who really put in the effort to do this, and I think they will.
