Kelly Rowland’s Mother Dies At Age 66

Very sad news. Kelly Rowland’s mother Doris Rowland Garrison has passed. She was 66. Overnight, unconfirmed reports began to swirl that the 33-year-old singer’s mother died and today (December 3), Rowland officially confirmed the news in a statement,

It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison. She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today.We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time.

E! News is reporting Garrison passed away Tuesday in Atlanta after going into cardiac arrest. Kelly’s mother’s death is just weeks after the singer gave birth to son, Titan Jewell, with husband Tim Weatherspoon. Garrison gushed about Kelly’s birth stating,

Kelly’s going to be an amazing mom. She’s always been great with children. She loves babysitting, she loves buying stuff for kids. She has such a big heart. She’s a giver and a nurturing person and, really, that’s what motherhood is all about.

Garrison has one other child, Rowland’s older brother Orlando.
