Safaree Samuels Talks Split With Nicki Minaj: I was treated like an employee, instead of her man. [VIDEO]
Safaree Samuels is finally breaking his silence, doing his first interview about his very public break-up with Nicki Minaj.
As previously reported, late last year the pair — who had been dating for 14 years — called it quits. And last month, their break-up has spilled into a very messy public spectacle.
Minaj recently shared her side of their relationship, while promoting her latest project, with Angie Martinez. And now, Safaree is sharing his point of view, compliments of an interview with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club.
Throughout his interview Safaree reveals that he was a crucial part to Nicki’s writing process and that he decided to leave the relationship. He also explains what triggered their split and addresses claims that he cheated. Check out a few excerpts.
What was he to Nicki:
Everything. Decisions weren’t made without me, you know that was my soul mate. People thought, ‘Oh, I was just her hyper man or whatever.’ Nah, me and her was the ones calling all the shots.
How they met:
We were in a group together. It was called the Hood Starz. We did the group thing for like two years. Packed up two cars, moved to Atlanta. We just started bubbling from there.
If they were always together, romantically:
We were friends at first you know, then it turned into a relationship.
Negative comments that she’s now made about him:
I could be out here telling a million stories and doing cornball sh*t like that, but I’m not gonna do that. I never would do that. I just think it’s crazy for her to come out now…Who you with, that don’t mean nothing to me.
Who ended the relationship:
