(EXCLUSIVE) Dionne Warwick – Federal Government Aggressively Pursuing Singer’s Money, Due to 6 Million Tax Debt
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Dionne Warwick is accused of evading the IRS for 6 million dollars in back taxes she owes and now Uncle Sam is on the hunt for the money she makes through performing — and has subpoenaed all bank account and payment documents from her booking agent.
Back in 2013, Dionne filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy claiming she only had assets totaling $25,500 but liabilities in the amount of $10,727,429. The singer’s lawyer explained that due a business manager mismanaging her finances she was drowning in tax debt.
Then, Dionne filed a lawsuit against the IRS claiming 6 million of the debt she owed them was supposed to be wiped clean. She explained since the debt owed was so old, per the law, it was to be discharged in her bankruptcy. The IRS fired back at Dionne, claiming the taxes weren’t eligible for discharge due to her having tried to evade payment to them over the years.
