This week, rumors were swirling that Chris Rock was a main contender to host the Oscars. [FYI: The Academy Awards or The Oscars is an annual American awards ceremony honoring cinematic achievements in the film industry. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially the Academy Award of Merit, which is better known by its nickname Oscar.]

Apparently, the rumors were true! Chris Rock has been confirmed as host of the 88th Academy Awards. The news was confirmed by producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin.
