Michael Strahan to Host $100,000 Pyramid + Effie Brown Joins Lee Daniels’ Company
The $100,000 Pyramid is returning to TV this summer, according to EW. The show will be a remix to the classic game show in which a celebrity and an average citizen team up against another celebrity and another average citizen to play a word-association game. Michael Strahan, who co hosts Live! with Kelly and Michael, will host the show as it returns to prime time on ABC this summer. ABC has ordered 10 episodes of $100,000 Pyramid.
And in other news, Effie Brown has joined Lee Daniels’ production company. Brown is known for her work on films like Dear White People and producer of HBO’s Project Greenlight.
Brown, who will serve as executive vp production and development for TV and Film, tells The Hollywood Reporter,
I’m extremely excited. In my opinion, Lee Daniels is a cultural icon. I’m really happy to be here because part of Lee Daniels’ brand is that he does value diversity in front of as well as behind the camera.
According to THR, Daniels began working with Brown on Fox’s untitled pilot centering on a girl group hoping to make it in the music industry, which will star Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt. Brown is executive producing the series as her first project as a member of Lee Daniels Entertainment (LDE).
Daniels says of Brown joining LDE,
We’re elated to have Effie on board for this new chapter of LDE. What she brings to the table in terms of creativity and tenacity is unrivaled and we cannot imagine anyone better for this position.
