Azealia Banks Speaks Out: Russell Crowe Threatened To End My Career
Azealia Banks: Russell Crowe Threatened To End My Career
The fallout between Azealia Banks and Russell Crowe is far from over. As you know, the rapper claims that an altercation between the pair popped off over the weekend at a Beverly Hills hotel suite. Banks claims that she was called a n*gg*r, spat on and kicked out of the suite.
Crowe has yet to speak out personally, but has disputed her claims via his reps. Meanwhile, this week Banks posted the following on Instagram and later deleted it.
In an interview she also stands by what she says went down.
She claims that initially she was with RZA for a business meeting at the hotel, which eventually turned into her attending Crowe’s dinner party with him. She says that at the dinner party, she was joking with them about making horror movies and poking fun at their work and everything was fine. However, she says that things got odd when Crowe turned to her and said,
Hey, you haven’t done anything in your career, so you have no right to tell him about horror.
Banks also claims that when things got tense, another drunk woman started getting aggressive and threatening her. That’s when she told the woman,
This is not how this is going to go. I said, ‘If I throw something at you and you get hurt, then the party is going to be done. Then we’re all going to look bad and it’s going to be a terrible night.’
At that point, she says Crowe turned to her and whispered in her ear,
Even if you tried, you wouldn’t even get close enough, you n—-r.
She continues
Next thing you know, I’m getting choked up, I’m getting dragged out of this room and spat on. I felt betrayed, I felt humiliated, I felt low. It almost felt like a set-up.
Banks says that what made matters worse, is that no one, including RZA, came to her defense. Banks says that this situation could be resolved if Crowe said sorry.
I would like him to apologize to me publicly now because [he] went to TMZ, [like an] idiot. I didn’t want to press charges because dealing with the police, dealing with the courts is such an inconvenient thing. I don’t want this happening. They say I’m doing this for attention. Who wants this kind of attention?
She adds that Crowe’s attorney even low key threatened to end her career.
I’m pretty sure this happens to women in Hollywood so often, where you get chastised into a corner. Even his attorney called me and said something like, ‘If you say something about this, then you’ll never work in this town again.’ I’m pressing [charges] now. He doesn’t get it. He thinks I’m just some little black girl from Harlem that doesn’t have any backing. They think they can just frame me.
Crowe has yet to comment publicly. Click here for his side of what went down.
