(EXCLUSIVE) NBA’s J.R. Smith Denies Attacking Teen: He’s lying & wants my money!
J.R. Smith Denies Attacking Teen
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports J.R. Smith is blasting the teenager who sued him over an alleged beat down outside a New York pizza restaurant. The NBA star accuses him of refusing to hand over his medical records and blasting the entire case as an attempt to exploit him.
Here’s the latest: On April 28th, J.R. fired off a letter to the court accusing the alleged victim of refusing to follow the court order and blasts the “frivolous” lawsuit as nothing more an attempt by the teen and his lawyer to exploit a professional basketball player and take money from him.
J.R. explains he has complied with the court order but accuses the plaintiff of failing to authorize the release of his medical records by last month. He says the plaintiff’s lawyers even refused to discuss the issues with his lawyers and has not even responded to any of their attempts to reach them.
He says these actions have caused him to incur the costs and expense of defending himself in this case … which he says the plaintiff apparently has no interest in prosecuting … stating,
This is just a frivolous action where counsel and his client are attempting to exploit a professional basketball player.
Here’s the backstory: A 19-year-old named Justin Brown sued Smith for allegedly attacking him outside a New York Pizza restaurant. He demanded over $2.5 million in damages from J.R. for the emotional distress, pain and humiliation he suffered.
The NBA star blasted the 19-year-old’s lawsuit and demanded the entire case be thrown out of court. He denied the allegations he assaulted the teen and said he caused him no harm.
