Halle Berry is NOT afraid of aging! During a recent red carpet, the 50-year-old actress opened up about “aging gracefully” and how she feels about her birthday coming up next month. She says,

As I’ve gotten older I realize that age is just a number. It doesn’t define me. It doesn’t define my happiness or what I can and can’t do as I get older.

Berry, who is starring in the upcoming thriller ‘Kidnap’, says she’s focused on

a beacon for aging gracefully and accepting every stage of life that you’re at.

She adds,

Working hard to keep together what you got because this is all we have, and not just physically, but intellectually.

The ageless beauty also revealed that she’s not much of a birthday person. In fact, she says she’s NEVER celebrated her birthday on her own.

I never once had a birthday party. It’s just something I do for my kids.

However, she does celebrate Mother’s Day.

That’s the day I take credit for…I work so hard as a mom!

The actress also clarified comments she made during a recent Teen Vogue interview, in which she said of her 2002 Oscar win,

I sat there and I really thought, ‘Wow, that moment really meant nothing.’

Berry explained to Terri,

I hope my comments haven’t been taken out of context. I didn’t mean the Oscar meant nothing — it meant everything to me, it changed my life, and I think it inspired an industry… People of color have been able to infiltrate the business and actually work in the business and that’s a win… We’re winning because we are working in a way that we never were before.

She went on,

What I meant by that statement is that I am heartbroken it has been 15 years and no other women of color have stood by me in that category, and I really thought that night that that particular change in that category was coming soon, and I will keep wanting to see someone else stand there and I will keep hoping we, as women and people of color, that we stay hopeful and not become jaded.
