Here’s the backstory: Earlier this year, the rapper’s driver, David Jones, filed suit against his former boss accusing him of screwing him out of salary and overtime pay. The man explained he worked for Busta from October 2014 until February 2016. On his last day of work he was allegedly assaulted by the rapper and fired for failing to wash his boss’ ride for the day – a GMC Yukon truck-limousine.

Jones accused Busta of age discrimination – with the driver being 57-years-old – claiming the rapper would often spew derogatory remarks like “You drive like an old man” and “Your driving your age” — during times he would refuse to speed up when Busta demanded.

He explained he was hired to work seven-days-a-week starting at 2 p.m. and ended at 5 a.m. the next morning. The verbal agreement was that Jones’ would be paid $100k a year, but he says he only received
$85,753 for his work.

Throughout his time working for Busta, he would drive him and his family to various appointments, as well as nightclubs. The ex-employee filed suit demanding $236,064 in monetary damages and wanted his legal bills paid for by the rapper.

In August, Busta responded to the allegations saying that he didn’t own Jones anything because he was never his employee. Busta alleged that Jones was an independent contractor and not an employee on his
payroll. Due to him being a contractor, Busta stated that he didn’t owe him overtime because he was never his employer. He denied the allegations that he discriminated against the man due to his age along with the alleged assault that took place.
