Regina Hall May Join ‘Shaft’ Sequel
Regina Hall may be the latest actress cast in New Line Cinema’s Shaft sequel. According to reports, the Girls Trip actress is currently in negotiations.
The film will be a continuation of the story of the private detective that first appeared in the 1971 blaxploitation action pic that became a pop culture phenomenon.
Samuel L. Jackson is reprising the role he first played in John Singleton’s 2000 update, while Jessie T. Usher will play Shaft’s son. Hall is in talks to play Shaft’s former love interest and Usher’s onscreen mother. Alexandra Shipp and the original Shaft, Richard Roundtree, have also been cast.
The project will be directed by Tim Story. Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow wrote the script. Barris is also producing. The movie is scheduled for a June 14, 2019, release.
