Russell Simmons Being Investigated By Police

Russell Simmons is under investigation by the NYPD, following accusations that he sexually assaulted multiple women in his Manhattan apartment and at his office, according to reports.  The department’s special victims unit is looking to speak with seven of the women who have accused him of sexually improper behavior. As previously reported,  Sherri Hines, a former member of an all-female hip-hop, told The LA Times that Simmons raped her in his office around 1983. Model Keri Claussen Khalighi, claims that Simmons raped her in his apartment in 1991. Screenwriter Jenny Lumet also said in the Hollywood Reporter that Simmons had sexually violated her in 1991, also at his apartment.

Reportedly, the NYPD has reached out to three of Simmons’ alleged victims and the LAPD is looking into three allegations that happened in California as well.

Simmons has released statements maintaining his innocence.
