Oprah Says Being President Would Eventually Kill Her: The Bullsh*t, The Nastiness, The Crap
Oprah Winfrey Says Being President Would Eventually Kill Her
Oprah Winfrey is making it more clear than ever she will not be running for president in 2020. In a new cover story, she revisits and further explains why she won’t be running for the Oval Office.
In that political structure – all the non-truths, the bullshit, the crap, the nastiness, the backhanded backroom stuff that goes on – I feel like I could not exist.
She also says says the business of politics would eventually kill her.
I would not be able to do it. It’s not a clean business. It would kill me.
Oprah made headlines after delivering her Golden Globes speech earlier this year; which is when the pressure and speculation for her to be the next president began. Following her speech, she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, to speak about the results of her speech.
You give a speech, and then you sit down, and you have surprisingly, started to run for president. You know that breath you take when you’ve done a thing and you’ve sort of stepped out of your box? I was just like relived.
She adds,
It’s a humbling thing to have people think you can run the country.
Oprah Winfrey tells Jimmy Kimmel she was 'kind of thrown' at first by the presidential buzz surrounding her Golden Globes speech.
"I am definitely not running for president," she said, after turning to look straight into the camera. https://t.co/uwUwpQ83PC pic.twitter.com/1nPFylfUZU

Her longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham enticed the idea, as well. After delivering her speech, Graham told the press,
It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it.
Her best friend and host, Gayle King provided clarity to Stedman’s statement, citing,
Stedman says that he thought the reporter said to him: ‘Would she make a good president?’ And he said ‘Absolutely, she would.’ That’s how he interpreted the question, because this is the thing – Stedman would never so cavalierly say absolutely she would do it. It’s up to the people. He would never do that.
Gayle also provided her stance on her bestie running,
I do think she’s intrigued by the idea. I do think that. I also know after years of watching the Oprah show, you always have a right to change your mind?. I don’t? ?think at this point she is actually considering it.
Since the inception of the idea, the mogul has stated the only way she would run for President was if she received a sign from God. In an interview she said,
I went into prayer. ‘God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.’
